TKS Motorsports and Ian Madsen earn Knoxville Nationals B-Main start; Jackson Nationals on deck
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
MITCHELLVILLE, Iowa (August 15, 2022) - Qualifying for Knoxville Raceway’s coveted Knoxville Nationals A-Main is a colossal achievement, especially with 100 of the world’s most talented sprint car competitors all vying for one of only 24 open slots in Saturday’s finale lineup. Although not making the cut for Saturday’s 50-lapper, TKS Motorsports and Ian Madsen were close, ending their Knoxville Nationals campaign in Saturday’s B-Main and finishing 16th; the final last chance event with the top-four finishers earning the chance to battle for $175,000.
Madsen’s preliminary effort on Wednesday set the tone for his B-Main qualification, finishing 22nd of the 51 entries, first setting the fourth-fastest time overall before racing on to finish seventh in his respective heat race. Despite not transferring directly into the preliminary A-Main, Madsen went on to finish third in Wednesday’s B-Main, good enough to make the feature grid.
“It’s the toughest week of the year, hands down. Every lap counts,” Troy Renfro stated, owner of the TKS Motorsports, Albaugh LLC, Iowa Barnstormers, deWit Construction, Central Iowa Sheds, Jersey Freeze, No. 2KS sprint car. “Ian did everything he could to get our car to Saturday’s A-Main, but we just didn’t have enough. But, we’ll put that to the side and begin preparing for the upcoming weekend. We’re excited to head to Jackson and compete for another crown jewel.”
TKS Motorsports and Ian Madsen technically kicked-off their Knoxville Nationals week with Knoxville’s annual Capitani Classic on Sunday, as well as Southern Iowa Speedway’s Front Row Challenge on Monday. TKS highlighted the pair with a 19th-place score in the annual Front Row Challenge.
